Additional Info To enter the monasteries, appropriate clothing is required. Ladies should not wear short skirts and must have long sleeves. Men are not allowed to wear shorts. Normally we are visiting Great Meteoro Monastey and St. Stefanos. Every Tue, we are visiting instead of Great Meteoro, Varlaam monastery. The tour may be operated by a multi-lingual guide. All the mentioned prices are per person on twin sharing basis.
Departure from Athens for the Corinth Canal (short stop). Directed to Epidaurus, we visit the Ancient Theater, world famous for its excellent acoustics. Our trip continues in Nafplia (short stop) and through the plain of Argos we arrive at Mycenae. We visit the archaeological site and the tomb of Agamemnon. In the afternoon (optional stop for souvenirs) we leave for Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Overnight stay in Olympia.
We begin the day with a visit to the Archaeological site with the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic Flame, the Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. We depart, via Patras (short stop), from Rio, crossing the Corinthian Gulf from the bridge to Antirrio. Then we pass from the city of Nafpaktos and from there, along the coastal road to Delphi, known in antiquity as “the navel of the world”. In the afternoon we visit the picturesque mountainous village of Arachova. Overnight in Delphi.
Tour of the Archaeological Site and the Delphi Museum. Departure to Kalambaka via Central Greece (short stop at Lamia). Overnight in Kalambaka (a small town built at the foot of majestic gray rocks and crowned by the Meteora monasteries).
Leaving our breakfast for the nearby Meteora to visit the Byzantine monasteries. Returning to Athens, we will meet the heroic monument of Leonidas of Sparta in Thermopylae.
